Thanks for the Random Length’s insightful news coverage of the national election. Congratulations to President Joseph Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Harris does not have a good record on civil rights, fair housing, or police reform. I hope that is not the reason she was elected. I had personal litigation experiences with her in 2016 when as California Attorney General she opposed my efforts to assure full and equal housing privileges for tenants across the state.
It will take more than a change of two leaders at the White House to make a difference in the status quo and its trickle down effect. Let’s hope that the vice president’s heritage and gender will help her to become a better elected official than is expected. Good luck to us all.

Bias of the City Election Division
Dear Ethics Commission, et al:
​
This is what the city clerk elections division wrote me by email in part:
"Upon the close of Write-in Candidate filing on February 18th, 2020, Candidate Statements and Contact Information will be submitted for Translation. Once received and reviewed, they will be posted to our website.
"In response to your email dated Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, it is the City Clerk-Election Division’s policy to post candidate statement videos to its website AFTER the applicable candidate filing period has concluded. Likewise, this policy applies to write-in candidates; no write-in candidate statement videos will be posted to the Election Division’s website until the close of the write-in candidate filing period."

In this instance, in my opinion, the "applicable candidate filing period" has concluded for those write-in candidates who have qualified to date. The issue of what happens on February 18 ("candidate filing period") is an intriguing one because I told the city clerk that there is nothing in the City Election code stating what the city clerk has authority to do on February 18. That deadline only applies to what the "candidates" have to do. In this instance, the clerk has engaged in abuse of authority to make such a statement that they have the authority not to post videos until after the filing period has ended; I see no such authority. My understanding is the write-in candidate statements and contact information has already been received and reviewed and translated, to date. In the circumstances, this is an abuse of authority. There is nothing in the election code (or municipal code) that gives the city clerk the authority to do this, to exclude current qualified write-in candidates form having the equal benefit, privilege, and city funded campaign contribution of having their statement videos posted to the Election Division's website, as of the date such candidates qualified.

The actions of the city clerk's office employees in this regard constitutes a violation of the city of Los Angeles Code of Ethics sections II, XI, XII, XIII, XIV.

Please inform me today that the campaign statements (video and otherwise) will be posted to the city Election Division website along with the regular candidates, for those write-in candidates that have qualified to date.

Dear Election clerk:
Your response is unacceptable as a resolution of the damages that have occurred.
You state: "Upon the close of Write-in Candidate filing on February 18th, 2020, Candidate Statements and Contact Information will be submitted for Translation. Once received and reviewed, they will be posted to our website." These conditions were not explained to me when I signed up as a write in candidate and they were not told to me at the taping at the LA City View station. Your actions constitute unfair advantage to the regular candidates and a violation of the provisions of the state Unruh Act. At the time I qualified as a write-in candidate, I was not told by city government that I would be denied any privileges and services until February 18, 2020, such privileges and services granted to other similarly situated candidates as you state in your email.
You have already received and reviewed my taped candidate statement.
Please post the write-in candidate video statements to the city clerk website without further delay and prejudice.

1. Do we have an estimate as to when the candidate statement videos will be aired which includes the taped statements of write-in candidates?
2. I notice that the LA City clerk's office published yesterday links to the videos of the non-write in candidates. I do not see the videos of the write-in candidates; and the clerk's office is non responsive.
3. I assume we are at an impasse. Therefore this is my notice to LACITY View 35 of my advance request for equal opportunity and equal time, as is provided to the regular non-write-in candidates, i.e similar slots and the same amount of time and number of broadcasts as provided to regular candidates.
4. Being that the city clerk has published to the city website and denied to me equal opportunity and equal time, or the equivalent under the provisions of the state Unruh Act, this email shall constitute a claim for damages against the city government of Los Angeles and city clerk election division, pursuant to the filing of a formal claim for damages with the city clerk's office.

Dean Logan, Director of Elections, says there are $5,388,599 registered voters. Dean C. Logan is Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. So that is $5, 388, 599 voters who were lied to.
Dean Logan should be transferred because the sample ballot book mailed out to the 5 million voters misleads voters into thinking there is no list of write-in candidates until Feb. 22, 2020, 11 days before the election.

I request that Dean Logan be replaced immediately.

THE LA COUNTY ELECTION FRAUD.
You read it here and know that none of the opposition candidates will complain about this. Especially the candidate who is a county supervisor Ridley-Thomas I previously reported to you that I reported to the LA County Registrar and the LA County Board of Supervisors (and Secretary of State Elections Alex Padillo) that the official sample ballot contains the misleading statement ""A list of qualified write-in candidates is available eleven days before the election at lavote.net" Just so you did not miss the statement, it appears on two pages in the sample ballot. This statement is misleading for one, because it appears right after the statement "To add a candidate, fill in the circle in the circle to the left of "write-in candidate: and write the name on the dotted line." The statement implies that the write-in candidate list is not available until February 22 and that the voter cannot vote for a write-in candidate until February 22. This is an illegal unfair practice by the LA County Registrar to favor regular candidates, and cause who knows how many votes to be lost by write-in candidates from voters who decide not to wait until February 22 to vote for the write-in. The truth is that voters as of December 31, 2019 from the lavote.org site have the option to vote write-in from the list published onto the county election site of over 250 write-in candidates. This is a lie that the public should not allow and should hold responsible county supervisor Ridley-Thomas and the county registrar. This is a disrespect for the process and for all voters. The public needs to be told the correct info by the county immediately. You read it here. I encourage all voters to complain about this.( FB says I cannot share the link for the LA county registrar, which is a government agency, because it violates their community standards. FB is now the 1984 Internet Police).- I kid you not. FB was blocking the post telling me I had to remove the county web address or they would not publish the post. Who is FB working for the government now? I have written the county and the registrar asking them to mail to all voters the corrected information.

DEAR BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AND LA COUNTY REGISTRAR:
I was able to see a copy of a fellow voters Official Sample Ballot. Mark Rildley Thomas is a supervisor on the County Board of Supervisors, connected to supervising the running of the election.
I note on the page “Voting for Write-In Candidates” it reads, “Write the name and office of the official write-in candidate in the write-in portion of the ballot. A list of “Qualified Write-In Candidates” is available eleven days before the election at LAVote.net. “
Transparent is defined as "without guile or concealment; open; frank; candid; specif., open to observation, public scrutiny, etc.: a transparent investigation into county corruption”.
The statements in the sample ballot booklet are not transparent and are meant to mislead the voters. The LA city election clerk, and other candidates who believe in election integrity, should mount a legal challenge to those sentences. First, because of the juxtaposition of the sentence two, it is implied that there is no current list of “qualified” write-in candidates; that would be an unfair statement because currently the LAVOTE.net does have a list of qualified write-in candidates that has been on their website since around December 31, 2019, of about 250 candidates. There is a list of qualified LA city write-in candidates (on their site). The statements, therefore, in the official sample ballot booklet, are therefore meant to mislead the voter into thinking they cannot currently vote by mail or otherwise for a write-in candidate, because there is no list of qualified write-in candidates until eleven days before the election.
The LA County registrar and the LA County Board of Supervisors, have obviously authorized this to give unfair advantage to the non-write in candidates. This violates the oath and ethics of all such county employees to act in a lawful manner. The LA County registrar has failed in its duty to provide “essential records management and election services in a fair, accessible and transparent manner.” The LA County Registrar, and others, by its actions herein, has failed to act in a fair, accessible, and transparent manner. I further wonder that if the County Registrar can so easily influence the election in a partial manner, what other interference will happen in the voting process under the supervision of Mark Ridley Thomas?
No one stands up against this government corruption except me. That is why I am the best qualified candidate for CD 10.

ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL - Los Angeles. This has been a busy week. I argued with a resident manager and property owner over their abuse of the right to enter and lack of compliance with state laws on when inspections are allowed (limited circumstances); I gave spiritual support to a woman who alleged she was the victim of a hate crime (that appeared in the California news); I spent time canvassing the Palms neighborhood assisting tenants with housing matters; I contacted the city government seeking resolution to denial of housing services complaints and illegal conduct of Power Property Management Group of Culver City.
I was so glad to hear the concerns of tenants who were so very willing to talk about Los Angeles. Everyone was upbeat but so very talkative about the status of the neighborhoods. Some people want things to go back, some people look forward to the future; few people look to the present. I sensed that many feel their public officials are not listening. I felt the anxiety and desperation over the changing neighborhoods and increased density and auto traffic. I hope I was able to bestow a small sense of hope.
As I continue my campaign for nomination to the 10th District, I need the ideas, support, money, and nominating signatures of hundreds of good citizens like yourself. My campaign $$$ expenditures may include lawn signs, buttons, bumper stickers, T-shirts, potholders (potholders?), consulting fees, payments for community events, fundraising event expenditures, mailing pieces, door hangers (door hangers?), mailing costs, member communications, office expenses, petition circulating payments in October, phone banks, polling research, messenger services, professional services, radio airtime, campaign workers salaries, voter registration costs, etc. $$$$$$ MO-NEY. As councilperson, if elected, I will have input over a city nine billion dollar budget. My salary will be over $184,000 per year.
The 2018-2019 city government Los Angeles expenditures include departments (in millions of dollars) AGING $6,841,568; ANIMAL SERVICES $24,910,654; BUILDING AND SAFETY $117,928,287 including salaries of $115,182,735, funding sources of $106,574,000 from building permits; CITY PLANNING $40,649,689 including salaries of $40,359,214; HOUSING AND COMMUNITY INVESTMENT $88,025,595 with salaries of $66,389,022. Yet with all this MO-NEY floating around, many like myself still cannot get fair housing services. No wonder Los Angeles is not on the top ten of best places to live in America ("Money" magazine).
I need your help in making government more accountable for the good of all citizens.
